Seven Sisters

Best Time to Visit Seven Sisters

Winter (November to February)

Winter in the Seven Sisters is cool and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 20°C depending on the altitude. This season is ideal for exploring hill stations like Shillong, Tawang, and Bomdila without the discomfort of heavy rains. Clear skies make it perfect for sightseeing, trekking, and experiencing local festivals such as the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland (December). However, some higher altitude areas like Tawang can get quite cold, so warm clothing is essential. This season suits travelers who enjoy crisp, dry weather and want to avoid the monsoon.

Spring (March to April)

Spring brings mild temperatures (15°C to 25°C) and blooming rhododendrons and orchids, especially in Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. The weather is comfortable for outdoor activities and exploring natural wonders like waterfalls in Cherrapunji and Dawki’s crystal-clear river. This is a great time for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The region is less crowded than peak winter, making it ideal for those seeking tranquility.

Monsoon (May to September)

The monsoon season sees heavy rainfall, particularly in Meghalaya, one of the wettest places on Earth. While the lush greenery and roaring waterfalls are spectacular, frequent rains can disrupt travel plans and cause landslides in hilly areas. This season is best avoided by casual tourists but can be appealing for adventure seekers who enjoy trekking in rainforests and experiencing the region’s vibrant flora.

Best months: October to April for pleasant weather, clear skies, and vibrant cultural experiences.
